You're at the right place! Martinique is an incredible place for learning to surf. We've got multiple beginner groups headed out daily. Just give us a call or email and we can give you available times. All we need is a contact phone number to book you or your group in.
Right in the provincial park, lot #4. We've got all of the surf equipment already here for you, no need to strap boards to the roof or put sandy wetsuits in the trunk. You can GPS 193 Martinique Beach Rd, East Petpeswick, or you can click on the directions button on our website.
We suggest giving us a call at least a day in advance for lessons. We can sometimes accommodate the same day but are fairly regularly booked up. If you're just looking to rent a board or suit you can show up any time between 9-5.
We suggest 20min to pay and get geared up. If you have a mid-day lesson we suggest a bit more time to find parking. We have a wireless terminal and can accept cash, debit or credit. Please consider cash as we are a small business and the Visa/MC fees add up for us.
If the surf is big on the day of your lesson we will head to the west end of the beach where wave heights are only a fraction of the size. Only 2-3 days a year are too small to surf and if our staff sees this in the upcoming surf forecast we will touch base with you a day prior to potentially reschedule.
Sure does, for the entire day! Most students are comfortable playing in the waves after their lesson. Stay out as long as you'd like, when your toes are sore from hanging 5 you can just walk the surf board over the sand dunes to our beach setup (open daily 9-5).
As we say, you're going to get wet anyway! Some of the best waves come with the rain! The only reason we will cancel is if the conditions are dangerous. If you are not interested in surfing in the rain, please keep an eye on the weather and touch base with us 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule.
It is possible for us to conduct the lesson in waist to chest deep water but we do suggest students are comfortable swimming the length of a swimming pool. Contact us if you are unsure of your swimming ability.
We keep our groups very small, they range between 2-5 students per instructor depending on conditions. We do our best to group students we think will be compatible in age and physical ability.
Summer water temperatures fluctuate between 14-19 degrees Celsius. You should be toasty warm in the provided gear, if not, we've got boots and gloves on site for you.
That really depends on how well you want to surf! We generally suggest that just one lesson is all you need to learn the basics of safety and technique. Too many lessons too close together can be an overload of information. We suggest renting the gear a number of times after your first lesson to get the basics down pat and we can reassess from there.
Generally in the mornings but best to give us a call as things sometimes change with conditions and availability. We'll always find a time or solution to get folks in the water.
